This is fundamentallydifferent from a surface coating.

6. Service Life Without Topcoat

Does Rust Grip require a topcoat?

20+ years

No separate topcoat product is required. Rust Grip® is applied in twocoats (light-to-medium rust) or three coats (heavy rust or marine applications) of the sameproduct — replacing what would normally be a primer + mid-coat + topcoat system. It canoptionally be top-coated with Enamo Grip® or Super Therm® if a specific color or additionalUV resistance is desired.

Rust Grip® is a tough, single-component moisture-cure polyurethane coating loaded with metallic aluminum pigment for additional strength. In most cases, white-metal blasting is notrequired. It resists chemical solvents and acid splashes. One product replaces a traditional 3-product primer + mid-coat + topcoat system, applied in 2 coats for light-to-medium rust or 3 coats for heavy rust and marine applications.
